Baked Bitter gourd (Karela) Fritters

Bitter gourd though bitter in taste but is of very high nutritional value. We must try to incorporate bitter gourd in our meals. Generally bitter gourd is a vegetable which is not liked by anyone. Here I am sharing one recipe which can be used as snacks or can be used in meal also. Children will also like it as snacks. Fritters are very easy to cook and they are very tasty without the bitterness of bitter gourd. I will also share shortly one of my other recipe of Khatta Meetha Karela, Karela Tikki and Achari Karela. My family loves these four recipes of Karela.

Ingredients

  1. 2 nos. long bittergourd
  2. 2 tsp hang curd
  3. 1 tsp turmeric powder
  4. Red Chilli powder as per taste
  5. 1 tsp Coriander powder
  6. 1/2 tsp Garam Masala powder
  7. 1/2 tsp Chat Masala
  8. 2 tsp puff rice
  9. Salt as per taste
Method of Preparation
  1. Cut round thin slices of bitter gourd in a bowl.
  2. Add 2 spoon hang curd, 1 tsp turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, chat masala and salt to the slices of the bitter gourd.
  3. Take 2 tsp puff rice and grind in mixer and it to bitter gourd slices.
  4. Marinate the bitter gourd slices with the prepared mixture and keep the marinated slices in fridge for 4-5 hours.

  5. Preheat the oven to 350 deg F (180 deg C).
  6. Grease the baking tray with oil and place the marinated slices on the tray.
  7. Bake the slices for 10 minutes or when it starts turning golden brown. Be careful if you are using gas oven otherwise the slices will burn.
  8. Cool it off and serve as healthy minimum oil snacks. Your family will definitely like it. Do share your experience in comments section.

Tips-

1. Fritters can be deep fried in medium flame in oil.
2. You can also give the fritters in tiffin box as snacks.
