Bedmi Poori


Bedmi poori is popular vegetarian recipe generally prepared in north India. This is a variation of normal poori. Bedmi poori is full of protein. This can be served as breakfast or meal. This is also known as bedmi aloo, bedmi kachori, urad dal kachori, bedvi, bedami or bedmi puri aloo sabzi



Ingredients: Serving for 2

  1. Wheat flour: 1 cup
  2. Black gram  Pulse ( Urad Daal): 1/4 cup
  3. Coriander powder: 1 tsp
  4. Fennel seeds powder( saunf powder): 2 tsp
  5. Red Chilli powder: 1 tsp
  6. Turmeric powder(Haldi): 1 tsp
  7. Oil: for frying poori and 3 - 4 tsp separately.
  8. Garlic : 2 inches grated
  9. Salt: As per taste
  10. Water: As required

Method of Preparation:

  1. Take black gram pulse (Urad daal) in a bowl and wash it and soak it for at least 3 hours.
  2. Now make a smooth paste of soak pulse using less water.
  3. Now take a big bowl, add wheat flour, coriander powder, fennel seeds powder, red Chilli powder,turmeric powder,oil, ginger and saltand mix well.
  4. Now add paste of pulse and knead it in a tight dough. Add few drops of water in kneading if it is required.
  5. Keep it aside for 20 minutes.
  6. Now divide the dough in to 8 or 9 portion and roll it using rolling pin into thick size
  7. Now take a frying pan, add oil and heat it on high flame.
  8. When oil is sufficient heated then put poori in hot oil and cook it on high flame.
  9. Now take it out and put on kitchen towel to absorb excess oil.
  10. Serve it hot with sabji, chhole and kofta.

Tips

  1. Roll it thick, thin poori will not be fluffy
  2. Wheat flour can be knead in the Black Gram Pulse (Urad Dal) paste and very less water will be required.
  3. Make a tight dough for making pooris.
